The Problem

Crumbling OEM plastic wiring loom covers on a 5VZ-FE engine

Your OEM plastic wiring loom covers are over 25 years old. Heat and age have made them brittle, mounting tabs break off — and once they crumble, your injector wiring is exposed to the engine bay. Heat, moisture, and abrasion will eventually cause misfires, rough idle, or worse.

The Fix

CNC aluminum brackets installed on 5VZ-FE engine

Our repair kit replaces those failed plastic covers with precision CNC aluminum brackets that bolt to your engine's original mounting points. No modification, no cutting, no drilling. Just bolt them on and secure your wiring.

ThirdGenRegen workshop — where every kit is packed and shipped

In 2024 I spent about a year doing a full mechanical restoration on my '98 4Runner. Suspension, steering, engine reseal, timing belt, injectors — the whole deal. While I was waiting on parts from Japan, I pulled the plastic wiring loom covers off my injector harness and they crumbled in my hands. 25 years of engine heat will do that.

There was no replacement. Toyota doesn't sell them anymore and nobody in the aftermarket makes one. So I designed my own bracket kit out of aluminum, had them laser cut, and bolted them on.

I posted it on r/3rdGen4Runner and people started asking to buy them. That's how ThirdGenRegen started — not as a business plan, just a fix for my own truck that other people needed too.

Every kit is made in the USA from 5052 aluminum. I'm proud to offer these kits for sale to the classic Toyota community as my contribution to keeping these great old trucks on the road.

Frequently Asked Questions

How difficult is the installation?

If you can access your injector wiring harness, you can install this kit. The brackets bolt to your engine's existing mounting points — no drilling, cutting, or modification required. Basic hand tools are all you need. Check out our installation instructions for the full walkthrough.

Do I need to remove the engine?

No. The brackets are accessible from the top of the engine bay. You'll need to remove the intake manifold area components to access the harness — which is the same access needed to replace your valve cover gaskets or service the fuel injectors.

What's included in the kit?

3 CNC aluminum mounting brackets (tumble-finished), 1 mounting bolt and nut, and 10 push-mount zip ties. Everything you need to secure the harness.

How fast does it ship?

We keep inventory in stock at all times. Orders ship within 1-2 business days via USPS.

Will this fit my specific year/model?

If your vehicle has the Toyota 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 engine, this kit fits. That includes 1996-2002 4Runners (V6), 1995-2004 Tacomas (V6), 2000-2006 Tundras (V6), and the T100 (V6).

Why aluminum instead of replacement plastic?

Automotive OEMs have access to highly advanced materials, and manufacturing technologies that aren't available to small enthusiast run companies like 3rdGenRegen. 3D printed plastic parts commonly found in the automotive hobbyist world can't hold up to the demanding environment of your engine bay the same way that the plastics Toyota has can. A 3D printed replacement would be inferior to the OEM part. So we chose a different solution: CNC formed aluminum. This durable and attractive material matches the cast finish of your engine and will last the remaining life of your vehicle.
